We Know How To Take Care Of Ourselves Thanks Much!!!!

While I sit writing this post I am quite bothered by a few things. I see more and more of our rights to choose how to live being taken away a little more every day. Now I don't wear foil on my head and spout crazy rhetoric but I think its wrong to think that were not smart or restrained enough to take care of ourselves.
We did quite well before all of the government "assistance" with regards to law making came along. Our parents learned to cut the apron strings and let us learn from life and most of us turn out okay. Its time for politicians to cut the apron string and let us be the best we can be. Sorry guys were just not that helpless or dumb.
That being said I believe in having laws to help and protect us to a point. There comes a time when you have over duplicated laws and laws that go too far. Come on people too much of anything is bad for you.
The whole point of the exercise is balance not to be overbearing or oppressive. Thanks for your time and patience

An American Tragedy

As I write this, I am very disheartened to hear about another mass shooting. Children do not deserve to be victims of violence. Right now people are outraged as well they should be, I even more than others. As a life member of the NRA I abhor violence and criminal acts. The person who did this left warning signs to everyone around him if they had paid attention.
I work in a business where guns are a job requirement. Therefore I pay great attention to how people act in the workplace. Anyone can be in a bad situation at any given time. You can't blame an inanimate object for the actions of a person. If an individual is motivated enough they will find a way to hurt others.
A local Connecticut store doing their job by following the law kept the shooter from purchasing a gun. Sadly however the shooter stole guns from a family member who was killed in the process.

My condolences are with the families of all who were killed and injured. We all need to pay attention to those around us and how they act. We don't need to be paranoid but we need to be aware and be kinder to one another.
God Bless and Take Care

End Of Year Review

Well here is another year over, and maybe another not to come if you believe the Mayan Calendar.
Either way I'm still here serving the public. It is no surprise that business is still very rough. Many people are deciding whether to put food on the table or gas in the car.

The role of the PI is ever changing with less focus on the traditional roles and more diversification of the trade. Some think investigations is a dead art, but I can't think of how many times being a PI has saved my skin.

There are so many situations in life where information can save you heartache. When I bought my house I ran a background check on the seller for extra liens and other things. Everything was clean and all went well  in the end . Finding a bad slumlord  helped another situation I had to tackle. Government officials are less than ambitious. Thats not to say that they are all bad, but it seems to be a trend with a "so what " attitude.

What I and other investigators do is necessary for everyday situations. People get ripped off all the time because they don't do their homework. I solve real problems for real people or at least help them get to a better situation. We as investigators are willing to work with your budget within reason. So don't suffer needlessly an investigator can help you.

Here's to another year, may it be better than last year. God Bless and Happy New Year

Why I Do What I Do

I have been asked many times why I do what I do. It's because I like people. I believe that everyone deserves their fair share of justice.
Many times people come to me for help with a problem that no one else wants to hear about. They have gone to the police or other state agency with no response at all. They want someone to
listen to them. They feel like a number with no hope of response to their problem.
I often compare investigators to a mixed drink. Here's the recipe:

One part Psychologist
One part Business Person
One part Paralegal with a sprinkling of experience.
One part Sixth Sense (no not the movie)

I do my best to help everyone that comes to me no matter who they are. Life isn't easy I just help people along when I can. I have rules that I do business by here they are:

Nothing is ever easy.

I don't make promises that I can't keep.

Never lie to the client.

I don't waste my time or your money.

If you follow these rules you will avoid a lot of aggravation. I usually give someone the benefit of the doubt up to a certain point. Most people have something to hide or are holding something back. This doesn't mean that they are lying it could also be that they are embarrassed about their choices in life and feel that they will not get any help or be believed.

It's not easy to judge sometimes whether or not someone is genuine. Some people are pathological liars and they can fool anybody. Anyway this is just part of what it's like to be in a spot where you have to be objective without being emotional. That is another pitfall of being an investigator.

That said my personal life has played an important part in my profession. My experiences in life
led me to this path whether or not I wanted things to be this way. Everybody does what they do for a reason. Getting to the bottom of things is in my nature. I like what I do because maybe one day I can say that I made a positive difference in someones life.

Why Employment Backgound Checks Are Important

You need to hire someone to fill a position that is critical to your company's success, you want someone that is trustworthy and won't steal assets or intellectual property.

You find someone that you think will fill the position, but you need to find out if their qualifications are what they say they are , and if they have a criminal record. You can go online to one of those infamous paysites that promise all information that is accurate, or you can hire a professional who will get you the results that you need.

One of the worst tactics that the internet paysites use is what I call "The Holdback Method".
It works like this: you input the persons name and a shrouded screen comes up telling you different prices for varying amounts of information. and the more information you want, the more you will have to pay, holding the information you want hostage until you pay up. Often times you end up paying much more than if you went to a licensed professional in the first place.

The wrong person can and will ruin your business and reputation, don't skimp on the important things. Many times you can work out a fair price with the investigator, especially if you are doing multiple checks. Be smart spend your money wisely. Until the next time stay sharp. Back to Blogging

It has been some time since my last blog. I get more than my share of unique calls from potential clients. I have heard everything from mild to wild. Yes it makes for an interesting profession, but it also tells me one thing many people make bad choices.

I would never tell anyone how to live their life, but I will say this if your instinct is telling you something isnt right listen to it. At this point in time business isn't so great for anyone. Private investigators are no exception. If you are in trouble get a professional investigator and or an attorney. Your problems are not going away if you don't take care of them.

Until next time
Tom
